Three Unhoused Residents Died During Winter Cold 🧊

Three homeless men died of hypothermia on Sacramento County sidewalks this winter, according to coroner reports obtained by The Sacramento Bee. David Yeager, 59, was found March 13 near City Hall. Mitchell Meredith, 65, and Terrence Shoots, 54, were found outdoors in February and January. Warming centers were open, operating under updated rules passed in 2023 after similar deaths. Centers now activate more frequently, and thank goodness, including when lows hit 37°F or below with certain wind and rain conditions.

Kings Snap 16-Game Losing Streak 👑

It finally happened. The Kings beat the Grizzlies 123–114, ending a brutal 16-game skid — the longest in franchise history. Russell Westbrook dropped 25, Precious Achiuwa added 22 and 12 boards, and DeMar DeRozan chipped in 19. Keegan Murray had a rough shooting night, but let’s talk impact: 5 assists, 3 blocks, strong defense, and smart rotations. The box score won’t show it all and he contiunes to impact the game while going through a tough stretch.

Lawmakers Take Another Swing at PG&E ⚡

State Sen. Scott Wiener introduced SB 875, a bill that would make it easier for cities and counties to take over PG&E infrastructure and create public utilities. The push follows recent SF outages and long-running frustration over rates and wildfire liability. PG&E says a takeover would raise costs, not lower them. Expect this one to spark debate well beyond the Bay.

East Sac “Pirates” Spotted 🍊

A Reddit post lit up after someone found piles of oranges, limes, and kumquats scattered on 52nd Street. The working theory? Citrus piracy. Scurvy prevention? Performance art? Sacramento remains mysterious.

🎉 Things To Do

Sacramento Kings vs. Phoenix Suns 🏀

  • Momentum shift? Maybe. Golden 1 Center is suddenly interesting again.

Midtown Farmers Market (Saturday) 🥕

  • Local produce, coffee, pastries, and fewer pirates (probably).
